About PRinceton, Texas
Princeton, Texas was originally called Wilson’s Switch before the name was officially changed in 1888. It was named Princeton in reference to Prince Dowlin, a known landowner of the farming town. Mainly due to its prime location in the Texas Blackland Prairie, as well as, at the intersection of farm roads and the U.S. highway 380, it became a bustling commercial center for farmers. Princeton eventually became known as an onion-growing center.
Around a decade ago, Princeton was still considered as a small farming town. Moving forward, it has been making impressive economic leaps with a 15% growth rate over the past four years. “Progress with a purpose,” as the town’s motto suggests, has been what Princeton and around 22,000 of its residents have collectively done. Despite being one the fastest growing cities in Collin County, Princeton has maintained the charm, quiet comfort, and sense of community of a small town. It has been awarded with a bronze level Scenic Texas City Certification, recognizing the city’s efforts pertaining to sustainable land planning and scenic standards.

Frequently asked questions about Patio Enclosures, Screens, and Covers
How do insulated patio covers improve comfort for outdoor spaces during Princeton’s hot summers?
Insulated patio covers offer valuable protection from the harsh Texas sun, especially in Princeton’s newer neighborhoods where natural shade is limited. Featuring a dense foam core, these covers help keep patio areas up to 10–15 degrees cooler than those without cover. This makes it possible for families to enjoy their outdoor spaces comfortably, even during the height of summer.
What are the best screen enclosure options to keep out insects near Lake Lavon?
Homeowners near Lake Lavon and the city’s creeks know that mosquitoes and other pests can be a real challenge. Our screen enclosures offer several mesh options, including fine weaves designed to block even small insects. Built with rust-resistant aluminum frames, these enclosures provide year-round protection and are easy to maintain—so you can relax outdoors without being bothered by bugs.
Are louvered pergolas a good fit for Princeton properties that experience strong winds and storms?
Louvered pergolas are engineered to meet or exceed Princeton’s building codes for wind resistance. The heavy-duty aluminum louvers can be closed to create a watertight roof, offering reliable protection for your patio and outdoor furniture during the region’s sudden storms or heavy rainfalls.
Can retractable screens be added to existing patios and porches in Princeton?
Retractable screens are a versatile choice for both new and existing homes. They can be installed on covered patios, porches, and large custom openings. Each system is custom-sized, and with multiple color options available, the screens blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior—offering insect protection and shade when you need it, and preserving your open views when you don’t.
What is involved in securing HOA and city approval for patio enclosures in Princeton?
Most patio enclosure projects—such as screen rooms, patio covers, and pergolas—will require approvals from both the City of Princeton and your homeowners association. The process starts with submitting professionally prepared site plans and engineering documents for review. Our team manages the applications and paperwork, working closely with local authorities and HOAs to ensure your project moves forward smoothly from start to finish.
